From the port, a vast sandy beach stretches along the entire bay. Diabat, Just Across the Bay
Only a few kilometres from the centre, Diabat offers an easy escape from the city. This small village, associated with Essaouira’s musical and bohemian history, has a very different atmosphere from the medina. Visit for a walk, continue exploring along the coast or simply enjoy its slower pace.
Sidi Kaouki, for a Taste of the Open Coast
Further south, Sidi Kaouki is an excellent destination for half a day or a full-day excursion. Its long Atlantic beach attracts surfers as well as travellers looking for space, nature and tranquillity. The journey itself also offers an opportunity to discover the rural landscapes surrounding Essaouira.
The Countryside and Argan Forests
Leave the coastal road behind and you quickly enter another world. Villages, argan trees, fields and small farms shape the countryside around Essaouira.
